Ashley Rodriguez is an ambitious Houston native with a passion for sports and broadcasting. She is currently an on-air talent for ESPN Deportes 1180 AM Monday through Friday 11 am to 12 pm on her show “Los Profesionales” alongside Fernando Hernandez.
Ashley’s passion for television and entertainment started at a very young age. Her parents always advised her to pursue a degree in whatever she wanted and she eventually chose to pursue broadcasting. She always knew that whatever she chose to do as a career, she just wanted to be happy doing it and found no better way to accomplish that happiness than by combining her love for sports and T.V. and radio. In college, Ashley interned at LSC-TV as an anchor, reporter, and news assistant. After her internship, she challenged her writing creativity as a sports columnist for 365 Rundown Sports. In 2015, Ashley became part of the Houston Texans organization as an NFL cheerleader for the 2015-2017 seasons. During her time with the Texans, she hosted a weekly show with Telemundo and the Texans called “Texans Primero y Diez”.
Although Ashley was born in Houston, she is the daughter of Mexican parents who’ve always instilled a proud Hispanic heritage in her, and her first language is Spanish. Being bilingual has given Ashley the blessing to work with many people of different backgrounds and she encourages those who speak multiple languages to apply it in their daily jobs and lives to help make the world a better place.
Aside from her sports and broadcasting accomplishments, Ashley was crowned as Miss U.S. Houston and is also a published model and fitness junkie. She has an eagerness to travel the world, including doing mission trips in hopes to change people’s lives in unimaginable ways. Ashley has many passions including entrepreneurship, community outreach, animals, her friends, and family, all of which contribute to who she is and what she hopes to accomplish in the future. Her favorite quote is, “The things you are passionate about are not random, they are your calling.” -Unknown
